Dear Sterling American,

600 Acre Park Donated To Loudoun County

Governor Bob McDonnell announced that his administration has reached an agreement that will result in a 600-acre state park in Loudoun County.

Thanks to the generosity of several outstanding Virginians, the state will be able to add a scenic new park to its award winning state park system," Governor McDonnell said. "I want to commend Robert and Dee Leggett, whose foundation acquired land that became the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship in Loudoun County and will benefit future generations as a Virginia State Park."

"The Claude Moore Park was donated to Sterling and this is an even larger gift that will help Sterling citizens who want another place to enjoy the outdoors in Western Loudoun. Thank you Governor McDonnell.", says Eugene Delgaudio, Sterling District Supervisor.

Located in Western Loudoun County, the Old Dominion Land Conservancy of Purcellville has reached an agreement with the Department of Conservation and Recreation to donate 600 acres of woodlands and pasture to the Commonwealth for development of a state park. The conservancy received the land from the Leggett Foundation.

Eagle Scout Event At Adams Center

A great place known for its large community events and forums. I attended
the Eagle Court of Honor for Yousuf Rehman, a young scout.

I have seen the scouts from Troop 786 at ceremonies, civic events in Sterling for years.
Time flies but they are now having their fifth Eagle Ceremony. It is a big
event. There are two troops meeting different days at the center.

Martin Luther King Holiday March

Mark Gunderman promotes dozens of moral crusades regularly.

Each year Mark also marches in the MLK march and invites the community.

Gathering at 10 AM on Monday January 20, Loudoun County Courthouse Lawn
at 10:30 march to Douglass Community Center a few blocks away.

Right To Life March

I always attend with members of my family.

The annual March for Life Rally is from noon-1pm on Wednesday January 22, 2014 and as customary, will be on the National Mall. They are planning an exciting line-up of speakers with Congress in session. There are many buses going from area churches so I will see you there as usual.
