Football Game Tonight, 9-11 Ceremonies Saturday 9-11

September 10, 2010

As some of you may have heard already, the Board voted 8 to 1 to keep the current policy of allowing religious displays on the court house grounds. Thank you to those of you who wrote the board, prayed or came to the board meeting.

This is your victory. I have included some links up front and later in this letter on news coverage.

Delgaudio Comments on Attempt to Re-Write Historic War Against Christmas

Some members of the leftist extreme -- some Supervisors too-- have attempted to re-write recent political history.

Many of you know that there was a genuine threat based on public performance and that a pattern of attack on Christians, Christmas or religious displays appeared to be in place in Loudoun for the last 9 months.

Most citizens participating in this process, over 1200 signers to the petition for example, will ignore some negative comments following the Supervisors vote 8 to 1 to preserve religious freedom at the courthouse.

This is a time for celebration. I am grateful for the outpouring and the final vote to keep religious freedom at the courthouse grounds.

The negative comments by some are aimed at those who could fall victim again to outright fabrications.

Fact: This pattern of top Loudoun County government officials allowing the singling out of Christian displays or religious displays shows bias and discrimination practices hurtful to the entire population that wishes to express their religious beliefs publicly from the beginning (Thanksgiving 2009)

Fact: this Loudoun County government was prepared to abolish religious displays and most concerned citizens knew that was their plan as stated in the public documents, discussions and their "silence" is, actually, a position of allowing or approving of these published notices.

The pattern was established early that "silence" (see Thanksgiving 2009) as you allow, or consider, hurtful policies that single out one group is wrong.

Elected officials can not ignore a train wreck about to happen. And if they do not warn or try to stop it if they can, they are directly responsible for it.

Certainly the people objecting to the train wreck about to happen should not be blamed especially if the "conductors" are willfully ignoring the "passengers".

Its called "action by ommission".

The board of supervisors is directly responsible for the repeated public harassment of a large section of the Loudoun County population that believes firmly in religious freedom.

CLAIMS THAT "SILENCE" IS NOT A POSITION DOES NOT CUT IT.

Condemning attempts to limit religious liberty are what count. And 8 board members were "silent" for 3 months on this topic: June, July and August.
