At 9:10 AM EST tomorrow the board of supervisors will announce a new county administrator and introduce him to the county for the first time. He will start December 1st but he will be announced tomorrow at 9:10 a.m.

You can watch on comcast local cable or on the webscast at loudoun.gov. Or just stand by for more details.

NO CARS ON LAWNS update

Thanks to you and others, we have collected more than 300 signed petitions requesting that the county pass an ordinance restricting the paving over of lawns for use as parking lots in Sterling Park. They are being presented to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.

Helena Syska, our Sterling planning commissioner said in a letter to the editor of the Independent: (in part)

"The problem of over parking on residential lots is a very serious one. With it come health and safety concerns and the ability of fire and rescue to access property where gallons of gasoline are parked all over front lawns or where boats, pontoons and other RVs block the line of site. Residential communities were not planned to have front, side and backyards serve as parking lots."

STOP THE MEALS TAX 2009 update

The board of supervisors voted 8 yes, 1 no (Delgaudio) to ask Richmond for taxing authority for admission to events in the county, cigerette taxes and the meals tax. I am fighting this and will keep you posted. Many newspapers are beginning to report on this shocking development since the citizens voted down the meals tax three times (1998, 2002 and 2008).

>>>Ashburn Woman Wanted for $50 Million Mortgage Fraud Scheme Apprehended in Turkey

Comment: I said frequently over the years that some of the foreclosures in Sterling were the result of fraud, now they have found a suspect in some of the frauds.

An Ashburn woman who fled the United States after being indicted in July 2009 for a mortgage fraud scheme has been apprehended in Turkey.

Diane H. Frederick Atari, 42, allegedly took advantage of over 100 potential homebuyers and is accused of fraudulently fixing clients credit and inflating their income on financial records to place them into homes they could not afford. Atari allegedly illegally obtained monies in excess of one-million-dollars in the scheme. The total loss on these fraudulently obtained mortgages is estimated at over $50 million dollars.

>>>CLASSIC FRANK WOLF: OBAMA SHOULD MEET WITH THE DALAI LAMA

I heard Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA), co-chairman of the bipartisan Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, on the radio last week calling on President Obama to meet with the Dalai Lama while His Holiness was in Washington.

Over WTOP News radio, and on the floor of the House, Wolf said it is not too late for the administration to change course and invite the Dalai Lama to the White House.

>>> Later That Same Day Wolf Again

I heard Congressman Frank Wolf expressing his disappointment with Virginia being dead last in the country in not using federal stimulus money to build roads. Wolf is a critic of the stimulus money and I have condemned its use since all federal money comes at the expense of taxes or debt passed on to taxpayers.

I remarked at a Leesburg meeting on the public record that Tim Kaine is to be thanked for betraying President Obama and the socialist scheme to put Sterling Americans in debt.

>>>>Deeds: Higher Taxes, But No Plan

The Democratic Party candidate for Governor, Creigh Deeds used nearly 800 words in the Post to express his desire to raise taxes without a clear transportation program, writing, "As a legislator, I have voted for a number of mechanisms to fund transportation, including a gas tax. And I'll sign a bipartisan bill with a dedicated funding mechanism for transportation -- even if it includes new taxes."

This echoes what Deeds struggled to say in his now-infamous press gaggle following the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce debate last week: "I'm willing to sign a bill that raises new money for transportation....in fact I intend to sign that bill next year." The video has been viewed over 56,000 times on YouTube.
