Two Sterling Men Apprehended After Burglary in Progress on E. Staunton Avenue
Loudoun Sheriff's Deputies were called to a residence in the 200 block of East Staunton Avenue around 1:30AM on August 5th after a resident heard someone knocking on their door. The resident then reported seeing a flashlight pointed through a window before he secured himself inside a bathroom inside the home.

Sheriff's Briefing Big Success-- Report Posted Online Now
The quarterly meeting was held at the Sterling Sheriff's Station by Sheriff Chapman and Captain Gabrielli.
They reported that major crimes (burglary, robbery, etc) during April-June were up 24 percent over January-March; other lesser crimes were down 1 percent over the same period.

Mark Gunderman Tells Me: Loudoun food banks reach out to local residents
Currently weekly grocery requirements for local food banks are great. The crux of the problem is that during summer there is an increased concern for needy families with school-age kids because there are few school breakfast or lunch programs at this time.

LINK made 877 deliveries in 2013, providing about 87,700 pounds of food for 3,937 people.

" LINK phone coordinators contact people, who have called the 703-437-1776 phone line asking for food, to schedule a delivery and determine needs.
" LINK packers prepare bags for delivery based on household size and needs.
" LINK deliverers contact the caller to arrange for a delivery and to drop off food at caller's house.
" Pantry helpers sort and shelve incoming food and maintain the pantry.
LINK provided almost $26,000 to those in need of emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities. Fairfax County and Loudoun Cares refer people to LINK.
LINK picked up perishable food donated by local merchants and area schools daily to support its deliveries and to assist residents of shelters and senior apartment complexes as well as others in need.
