Attempted Fraud: A resident received a check from a potential customer for their online business. The check was made out for a greater amount than the price of the items the customer requested. The customer asked the resident to cash the check and wire the remaining money back. The resident recognized this as a potential scam.

Sterling's First "Teen Webmaster" Picked To Head "News Ease" Website

Heather Lawver Sewell has been picked to produce the "News Ease" website based on her model life long project ," The Daily Prophet," an online newspaper based on the Harry Potter series. Through that site she tutored & mentored over 400 children (and even a few adults). Now, though, the same platform that launched the Daily Prophet to such success will now be freely available to countless educators & children worldwide.

There is an incubation period this summer for development and hopefully NewsEase is ready to stand on its own two feet - I'm planning on bringing the organization right back here to Loudoun County, says Sewell

Sewell is a long time Sterling resident who started her internet outreach project at age 14, 16 years ago. She is now 30 years old.

Sterling Boulevard Cleanup, July 19

This notice is an invitation to any volunteers who want to participate in the Sterling Boulevard Cleanup from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 19th.

All participants should come to BRIAR PATCH PARK (located along Sterling Blvd. between Charlotte St. and Frederick Dr.) at 8:45 a.m. to receive orange bags, safety vests, and instructions. Please bring work gloves!

In case of inclement weather, the cleanup will be postponed until Saturday, July 26th.

This service project is organized by the not-for-profit Sterling Foundation
