LCSO Investigating Shooting on Sugarland Run Drive, Sterling No Threat to Community

(MONDAY APRIL 1)

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating a self-inflicted shooting that appears to be domestic in nature. There is no threat to the community.

Around 7PM (Monday April lst) Loudoun County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 60 block of Sugarland Run Drive in Sterling, Virginia for a reported property damage crash resulting from a possible traffic altercation between two vehicles. Both drivers, an adult male and an adult female, are known to each other. It was determined that the adult male involved then exited his vehicle, brandished a firearm, and attempted to take his own life.

The man was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office remains on the scene. Sugarland Run Drive in the area of Abbey Circle remains closed in both directions.
