Sterling Bank Robber Caught, Delgaudio Invites You to Crime Meeting Thursday Jan. 30
Dear Sterling American,
Thank you for voting in last week's special election. It was very cold but many of you warmed
my heart through and through by showing up in the dark and cold and throughout the day. Wow.
Sterling as always turned out in larger numbers and it was as close as you could make it. Thank you.
BANK ROBBER CAPTURED
Suspect Apprehended in Connection with Sterling Bank Robbery
A onetime Loudoun County resident has been identified as the suspect in the January robbery of the PNC bank in Sterling, Virginia.
The suspect, Jonzel M. Bailey, 22, who once lived in Sterling, was taken into custody in Miami, Florida, last week and was returned to Virginia Saturday after waiving extradition. Bailey is currently being held in Fairfax County on charges stemming from a December 27, 2013, robbery at the Wells Fargo bank in Herndon, Virginia.
In the Loudoun County case, the suspect entered the PNC Bank in the 100 block of Free Court shortly after 9AM on January 2nd and demanded cash. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office quickly released surveillance video stills of the suspect to the public through Alert Loudoun.
Detectives from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division worked with members of the Herndon Police Department and were able to positively identify Bailey as the suspect with the assistance of numerous tips from the public.
"The sharing of information with neighboring jurisdictions and quickly relaying the details of the robbery to the public helped solve this case," said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman. "This is a prime example of how good working relationships with our partners in law enforcement and our partners in the community can help solve crime," Chapman added.
Bailey was charged with robbery in Loudoun County on January 18th. He remains held in Fairfax County.
The case was a joint investigation between the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, the Town of Herndon Police Department and the FBI.
Delgaudio Invites You To Meet Sheriff
Sterling Crime Meeting Jan 30
The Sheriff will be holding Sterling's Quarterly Meeting on January 30th at 7:00 pm.
The meeting will take place at the Sterling Sheriff's Station next to Rolling Ridge Elementary School by Briar Patch Park on East Frederick Road, just one block in from Sterling Boulevard.
The zoning inspectors and fire and rescue volunteers are represented at this Jan. 30 meeting and will be available
afterwards as well.
Lt. Hines wrote me and said "We will also have representatives from County Zoning and the Fire Marshalls Office here to discuss recent efforts and provide a brief overview of their department."
Hines was presented an award at a public ceremony by the Sheriff for "Meritorious Action" and I attended along with
other supervisors.
I attend most of these community meetings and plan to be there at this Sterling meeting.
