STERLING CARJACKER SUSPECTS CAPTURED
IN KANSAS (THANK YOU KANSAS!)
A robbery and carjacking which occurred in Sterling on Friday night
has resulted in the recovery of the vehicle in Kansas and two
subjects in custody.
Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Investigators have charged two men
in relation to the carjacking and robbery of a Loudoun Co. woman
which occurred over the weekend in Sterling.
On Friday, August 12, 2011, the victim reported that she had been
robbed of her purse and her vehicle stolen from the parking lot
near the CVS Pharmacy on Enterprise St., Sterling. The victim was
leaving the pharmacy and carrying her toddler when a man accosted
her from behind. The robber held an unknown object to her neck,
demanding money. The victim gave him her purse and was then told to
go back into the store. The robber then left the scene in her
vehicle, a 2006 Ford Expedition.
Information about the vehicle was entered into the NCIC database.
The vehicle, with two occupants was located Sunday morning, August
14, by police near Garden City, Kansas. The two occupants were
taken into custody; one of them matches the description given by
the victim and witnesses.
Investigators have charged Jorge Alberto Castillo, 27, of
Sterling with one count of carjacking and one count of abduction.
The second subject, Juan Pablo Portillo-Alvarenga, 22, of Sterling
has been charged with one count of receiving stolen
property.
Authorities in Kansas have charged the pair with possession of stolen property and possession of stolen credit cards belonging to the victim.
