>>>New "Miller 5 Amended" Plan for Sterling District

As I have told you in previous letters, the Board of Supervisors has now adopted a redistricting plan during our business meeting this past Tuesday during a 3 hour session. Of sixty plans reviewed by Supervisors, the plan adopted was Miller 5 that was slightly amended.

Voting for the new districts were Burton, Kurtz, Buckley, McGimsey and Burk.

I asked for some improvements to the Sterling District and recieved overwhelming support from the Board members for those changes I suggested. Thank you to the board of supervisors for approving those changes overwhelmingly.

NEW PROPOSED PRECINCTS DOUBLE STERLING DISTRICT

The new precincts as proposed for Sterling are across the street on the north, on Route 7, precincts #608 and #606("Mirror Ridge" --Cardinal Glen and "Seneca" Richland Acres areas respectively) and across the street on Cascasdes Parkway on the west side (taken from the Old Potomac District), southern half of precinct "number 212" "Claude Moore Precinct" and old Sterling 211, Buchanan precinct which votes in Sterling at the Guilford Elementary School.

I approved of the map as it related to Sterling.

But the map did a lot more in other areas of the county that rewarded too much to Western Loudoun, so I voted "no" in the final vote.

A more detailed map is being prepared at this time.

>>> JAPAN NEEDS OUR HELP

Japan has been rocked by one of the strongest earthquakes on record last week, followed by a catastrophic tsunami and concerns about problems with their nuclear power plants.

Japanese families have been displaced and there are shortages of food and essential medical supplies in many parts of northeast Japan.

Sterling Americans always help the less fortunate. Will you help? There are many charities involved in the relief effort, so I have just included a couple options below. Remember, just $5 or $10 can make a difference.

The Salvation Army:

Salvation Army in Japan has three emergency service relief teams operating in areas devastated by the earthquake and tsunami that hit the north-east coast last week. One of the teams is assisting evacuees from regions where there is potential danger because of damaged nuclear power stations. Click here to donate.
