NEWS MEDIA BLACK OUT --no coverage of gigantic "Dulles World"...yet

Sterling Planning Commissioner Helena Syska Votes No to "DENSITY PACKING"

In a statement made at the Planning Commission and to the applicant Sterling Planning Commissioner Helena Syska said
" I was unable to support the (Dulles World) application, as you know, and felt that it still needed more work."

Syska also said "(This) current application before the Planning Commission (and sent with 5 yes, 3 no votes including Commisioner Syska) , which will have impacts on the community recreation (and impacts on the schools as well with 300 students at Park View HS ) is ZMAP 2008-0018 and SPEX 2010-0008 Dulles World which proposes a mixed use center which includes (originally) 1,495 residences, retail, commercial and office on 83 acres at Routes 28 and the Dulles Greenway near the CIT building (just south of route 606).

Here is the staff report on Dulles World; the most recent proffer statement can be obtained from Stephen Gardner in County Planning:

Syska said "Kincora (another project) was approved by the Board after very long and detailed deliberations. I do not think that this application is getting the scrutiny that Kincora had."

DELGAUDIO HAS SAID NO TO DENSITY PACKING IN THE PAST

The Board of Supervisors Considers Dulles World Monday, December 13 in one of the fastest considerations of the largest number of units on the smallest bit of property in Loudoun history.

I voted NO to density packing in the maping and planning in the route 606 Sterling area immediately south of Sterling Park when it was proposed years ago. Only then-Supervisor Mick Staton supported my opposition.

I have not changed my position and not meeting with the communities around the development is a bad sign.

Tell the board your opinion at [email protected]

Nativity Returns to Leesburg Courthouse

This Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 8 a.m. citizens will assemble the Nativity that has been a tradition for 30 years at the grounds of the Leesburg Courthouse located in downtown Leesburg 18 East Market Street, Leesburg, Virginia in Loudoun County. The Leesburg Christmas parade is at 10 a.m.

The permit is for 21 days and this is the reason for the late arrival of the Nativity scene. There are some anti-Christian signs up but that is due to the policy of free speech adopted by the board. I object to attacking any religious beliefs but also believe we need to have right to put the nativity there too.

"Free speech and religious expression go hand in hand and the free speech forum at the Courthouse is alive and well. Welcome to the nativity and to all who wish to express their Seasonal greetings at this time," said Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio when he learned of the plans to assemble the nativity from the organizers.
