SUPERVISORS TO GET GIANT PAY RAISE, YOU GET GIANT TAX INCREASE

September 16, 2010

Sorry if I missed you Monday night at a Back to school night as I had to be in attendence at a Board Public Hearing (the board approved two new church facilities Temple Baptist and Corpus Christi Catholic School respectively)

I did see many of you at Rolling Ridge ES and Sterling MS and will see some of you tonight at Forest Grove ES.

All the 9-11 evemts held Saturday were a big success. Chic Fil-A deserves recognition for a fantastic job and I layed on the thanks publicly at the event to them, their staff, the generous donors and my staff who worked hard.

The people cheered and of course the Park View HS Band beat the drums for the First Responders who graciously allowed us to honor them. Later the ADAMs center presented special awards to Sterling's Deputies and the First Responders as well as donations for their budgets. And the Community Center showed a great movie for families.

That was 9-11 in Sterling. Thank you.

Park View HS Band TAG DAY SEPTEMBER 18

First Performance At Park View HS Game Big Success

Tag Day is a long-standing donation collection conducted by all Park View band students within the Sterling community.

Students canvass the neighborhoods in small groups, each led by a parent chaperone. Last year, our students entertained their donors with songs, skits, and jingles they devised as part of a contest to see who could be the most creative.

The Band and parents are grateful to our Sterling neighbors who often anticipate our annual arrival by leaving donations in envelopes on their doors for us and take time to mail donations in the envelopes we leave on their door if they are not at home.

The generosity of the Sterling communityhas allowed the band booster organization (Band Aides) to meet all the needs of the band program that were not covered by county funding. This year, Tag Day will be held on Saturday, September 18th. If someone is not visited by a student group and would like to make a donation, it can be mailed to Park View Bands, Park View High School, 400 W. Laurel Ave., Sterling, VA 20164.

The first band performance of the year was last Friday, September 10th at the Park View football game.

The Marching Patriots can be seen and heard in the annual Columbus Day parade on October 9th, with a special appearance at Sterlingfest to follow. The schedule of performances for Concert, Symphonic, and Jazz bands can be found on the school's web page under "Activities." We appreciate the support and encouragement of the Sterling community

DELGAUDIO IN THE NEWS
PAY RAISE DURING ECONOMIC DEPRESSSION?

DELGAUDIO VOTES NO

The board of supervisors is considering a pay raise for the next term. Presently the pay is $41,000 for Supervisors and slightly more for Chairman and Vice-chairman respectively. Some are suggesting a pay hike of $20,000. There are other issues being considered and I asked for the pay raise to be separated. One Supervisor jumped up to the michrophone and said that pesky Delgaudio will tell people if we have a separate vote and single him (JIM BURTON) out so it was not a separate vote.

(Side Comment here)
I don't think I single out anybody. I owe it to constituents to quote, or cite somebody's legislation or remarks as they, respectively, state things publicly.

One supervisor, Jim Burton, routinely asks "HOW CAN SO MANY OVERCROWDING COMPLAINTS EXIST IN STERLING"?

Now the implication COULD BE, like Stevens Miller, when he complains about the "bigots in Sterling" (sic) there is something wrong and the complainers are to blame. There COULD BE a method to his bringing it up many times.

One answer for Mr. Burton who is talking about his impressions in a polite manner always:

Unlike the Supervisors at large Sterling Americans know that the overcrowding and quality of life issues exist in the same number and the same degree of violations in the other districts.

The difference is that Sterling Americans are doing something about it and that I fight alongside Sterling Americans day and night to preserve our Quality of Life.

Back to the Pay Raise Vote:

Chairman York agreed with Mr. Burton and only I objected and as is the long 11 year old custom, Chairman York sometimes rules against me! So the "entire topic of board reform including the pay raise" was voted on.

And 8 supervisors voted for the pay raise consideration "and other matters". Delgaudio voted "no".

>>>STERLING'S FORBIDDEN MAP

A photograph has been made of the FORBIDDEN MAP showing the impact of the legislation on Sterling since the county refused to provide an electronic copy of the map or post a map showing how Sterling is impacted online.

It was sent in to 10,000 carefully selected residents in Sterling. A color version is posted. 40 to 50 per cent of Sterling will be under the complete control of county bureaucrats if the Supervisors vote "yes" to the Ches. Bay Act next Tuesday September 20.

Any street with yellow or green (HALF of Sterling) will have to pay a fee AND prepare plans to address new regulations from the county of Loudoun. Is your street marked on the map?

>>>Chesapeake Bay Act Is Monstrous Disruption

My short take as published in next weeks Loudoun Times Mirror

The CBPA is a monstrous disruption of Sterling residents. Less than a fraction of a per cent of all run-off goes into the bay. We should not outlaw landscaping, doghouses, pools, sidewalks, roads, patios, playsets due to the prohibitive permit fees and punish taxpayers with a giant tax increase.
