>>>McDonalds Grand Reopening

The McDonalds Grand reopening is at 5 p.m. and they will have coupons for everyone who comes. That means traditional free food at America's Restaurant's Sterling location.

>>> WINTER WONDERLAND IN STERLING

Winter has returned big time in Sterling. Snow everywhere. Take out the camera and take some photos. Looks like we will see conditions in the morning.

Today schools opened and closed and then cancelled all evening programs. Worked out fine.

Traffic was a bear all around, but most people left work early or left at different times due to plenty of advance warning about the timing of the snow which came after rush hour.

As of 5 p.m. today there were approximately 1000 VDOT trucks in northern Virginia and 180 trucks mobilizing  in Loudoun County. I saw many of these trucks standing at ready and they did their job on major roads.

>>> DEEP SNOW STILL ON YOUR ROAD?

Tell me if your road is not plowed at this point or contact Customer Service 703 383-VDOT(8368) or email them at [email protected]

To reach me hit reply, or email me at [email protected] and put "PLOW" OR VDOT PROBLEM in the subject heading and the name of the street.

Sterling has VDOT maintained roads and needs to be told if any roads are left unplowed by morning. The trucks are working through the night and each crew is doing 12 hours "at minimum".

>>>>This is the VDOT Operation Plan:

·       Chemical routes are currently being treated with salt and plowed as needed and will continue to be addressed as such until weather conditions change.

·       Treating/plowing hot spots such as thorough fares and hilly areas in subdivisions is in progress. Additional equipment will be added to the subdivision fleet during the night hours to start plowing the remaining streets.

·       Commuter lot will be treated overnight and will be clear for rush hour in the morning.
