Fireworks!

June 30, 2007

First, as the Easterner newspaper editorial asks: FLY YOUR AMERICAN FLAG. THANK YOU.

>>> Early Fireworks Thursday Night.

There were plenty of fireworks, as citizens cried out, at the Scott York meeting Thursday. Not surprisingly, York expressed opposition to road improvements paid for by developers, York reserved the right to impose new taxes as our "representative" on the new Transportation board and will decide later if he should vote "yes".

York poo pooed the need to prohibit government condemnation of private property through a constitutional amendment and poo pooed the need to take out specific language calling for four (4) town centers in Sterling and Loudoun.

AFTER hearing many citizens speak against density packing, higher taxes and excessive government medling, I asked why not have an agreement with a majority of citizens who showed up? More later on this. I have not given up my position that we need to pass an ammendment outlawing the use of eminent domain and removing density packing from the Loudoun general plan.

So, I am reminded of fireworks. Here are list of actual real patriotic fireworks in the Sterling area.

The Declaration of Independence is seen as that document that established the new nation of the United States. The date of its formal acceptance by the Continental Congress, July 4, 1776, is celebrated each year in the U.S. with fireworks, parties, citizenship ceremonies, and baseball games.

30 DAYS OF NIGHTLY FIREWORKS THROUGHOUT USA.

From July 8, 1776, until the next month, the document was read publicly and people celebrated whenever they heard it. The next year, in Philadelphia, bells rang and ships fired guns, candles and firecrackers were lighted. But the War of Independence dragged on until 1783, and in that year, Independence Day was made an official holiday.
