I marched in Loudoun County's St. Patrick's Day Parade Sunday and they have posted some photographs. Yes, I am wearing a green hat and a green tie.

>>> PHOTO: SINGER PAT BOONE BACKS DELGAUDIO

America's top country singer Pat Boone is supporting my re-election. Mr. Boone is currently testing the waters for a presidential campaign run and was in Washington for that and other reasons. In a ceremony, we exchanged gifts. I presented his representatives an orange hat and a giant American Flag lapel pin which Mr. Boone put on. "I prefer this pin you have presented me to any other I have worn," Mr. Boone said. I received a copy of his book on his life which I accepted with this statement "No other single American figure has had as much of an impact in preserving and promoting goodness for the sake of goodness as Pat Boone has done through his songs."

Board Backs Polo Contribution From Tourism Fund

I voted "no" to British citizens receiving $136,500 of tax dollars collected in Loudoun County to ride horses and hit a ball with a little mallet. (QUOTE FROM ARTICLE follows)

"Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio (R-Sterling), however, adamantly objected to contributing money to an event associated with the wealthy, particularly considering the event would be held and the people would come regardless of the board's contribution.

"Part of my mission is to make sure people like this don't have access to taxpayer money," he said, telling representatives from the Loudoun Convention and Visitors Association he was not pleased with the request. "We become a playground for adults. You come and propose adult playgrounds for us."

"They're already coming," he continued, adding that the tourism money should be used to attract people who otherwise do not have plans to visit Loudoun, "not to subsidize people already coming here to play. Why can't we simply allow this industry to pay for this?" (UNQUOTE)
