Party 4-6 p.m. Today?

December 5, 2003

There is snow on the ground everywhere and there may be more snow tomorrow.

The planned Christmas Party is on. I will look at the snow situation again on Saturday. The Party will go on Saturday at 4 p.m. if weather permits.

This is the Season for snow, so let's not let a little atmospheric decorations that came yesterday stop us from a, today,Saturday, party, December 6.

But if there is a heavy snow on Saturday, lets not try to do the impossible. There is always the swearing in at Lansdown on December 16.

Winter storm warning through Saturday (Official Forecast)

Tonight: Periods of snow. Snow accumulation 3 to 6 inches. Lows around 30. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Snow...mainly early. Total snow accumulation 4 to 8 inches. Highs in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph.

SO WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

Talking about snow: Senator George Allen will be at the Republican Advance for his hoe down ($50 admission) on Saturday night at the Sheraton Premiere, Tysons Corner, after our event. Allen was visiting South Dakota and met with former Congressman John Thune, who introduced Allen to a raucous crowd of 500 people who came from all over the state, even though South Dakota was being hit by a massive snow storm!

GEDDIE ASKS FOR NEW TOYS FOR NEEDY KIDS; WILL CARRY ON OLD STERLING TRADITION

John Geddie, the editor for the Loudoun Easterner has issued a request to his friends: bring toys. He wrote this message in his recent column:

(quote) "Because we do not have the time nor talent to repair used toys, (I am asking) businesses and individuals to donate new toys for needy kids. Several have already donated, but more are needed. There are two or three targetsthe Love Box project to make sure needy children have something to remember, Social Services, and maybe an organization that gives toys to kids in hospitals. We will not accept money because we are not used to handling it. Amy is getting major assistance from businesses, but Alex and I would like individuals and families to get involved....(Alex is the copy boy,Ed. Note)

So would you please go out to a toy store, have fun, and purchase one new toy for a needy kid? Bring it here to 20735 Ashburn Road in Old Ashburnlook for the old blue house about a block from Partlow's Store. (One Mile south on Ashburn Road from Route 7) In return, we will send you an autographed copy of me and the copy boyprobably my favorite one from a few years back. It will be printed in genuine black and white on my HP 1300, ink smudges and all. If you bring by more than one new toy, you can have the first prize, a picture of the copy boy by himself. " (unquote)

So, there you are local Sterling Americans. Our biggest booster, John Geddie is laying out a marker for all of us to help out with some new toys. He will make sure the right little people get them too.

JUNIPER IS LIT UP

All of Sterling has Christmas lights up, but Juniper is brighter than ever and the hundreds of visitors are singing. Visit Juniper Avenue as soon as you can.
