TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT MEETING

February 8, 2007

>>>> STERLING TRANSPORTATION COMMUNITY MEETING
>>>> Feb. 8, 7:30 p.m. Senior Center, Tonight

The date and location are now announced for the 2nd meeting to access plans for improvements on Route 7. Six months ago a well attended meeting resulted in plans being developed further with public input.

Together with Sup. Mick Staton, I will ask staff to present "30 per cent" design plans to you. To review the plans please join me on Thursday, February 8th at 7:30 P.M. at the Senior Center in Cascades which is next to the regional library.

The County hired A. Morton Thomas and Associates (AMT) to refine the VHB company's concepts into construction plans and associated bidding documents. A preliminary design has been completed and will be presented at a Community Information Meeting in the near future. I will keep you informed as to the date and time.

The Loudoun County Transportation office will be mailing notices about the Sterling Community Information Meeting to all properties fronting on Route 7 and all homeowners/owners associations along Route 7 from the Fairfax County Border to NOVA campus. Drawings and sketches will be available for interested individuals to review and discuss with the designers and County staff. Citizen comments will be accepted, reviewed and considered as the construction plans move through the design process.

>>> OVERALL TREND OF DANGEROUS INTERSECTIONS IN STERLING DOWN, 6, 5, 4, 3?..........

There are some liberals screaming the opposite. Facts run counter to the hysteria.

Historically as late as 2004 there were SIX Sterling area intersections in the top ten worst with 376 accidents total. In 2005 there were FIVE intersections in the top ten worst with 298 accidents and now in 2006 there are FOUR Sterling area intersections in the top ten worst with 235 accidents. The improvements resulted in lesser accidents.

>>>> BE A REPUBLICAN DELEGATE
