Today in Sterling

April 6, 2002

I managed to get several millions of dollars taken out of the Loundoun County Government annual and six year budget. Thank you to you and to a majority of Board Members who voted to reduce the budget a little. I will tell you more later on that topic. In a commentary, as Chairman, Chairman Scott York mocked me that I could not get a majority, of Supervisors, to support more reductions. That hurt. Ouch.

Under the rules, the chairman then ruled "Board Comment" off the agenda and my response to his misrepresentation was then out of order. The Board meeting then adjourned.

I would have said in response to York's mocking of me that I will not back down from my position that the majority of Loudoun citizens know the truth about the large spending on non-essential items, boondoggles, travel, new cars, through the roof salary increases, budget allocations for hundreds of unfilled staff positions and wasteful and dangerous Purchase of Development Rights. Anyway, now I have told you what I would have said if a fair opportunity presented itself.

TODAY IN STERLING

The Sterling Public Library at 120 Entrerprise Street in the Sterling Community Center, located directly behind the Fire Station is holding a Book Sale today, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be "very affordable" novels, fiction and non-fiction books for adults and children. There will be another table with Mothers of Multiples selling children's clothing, and toys also. I will be there for two hours this afternoon. (Yes, I will be wearing my orange hat).

Proceeds go towards purchasing more books.
