The Ronald Reagan Lecture Series (RRLS) begins its ninth season with a birthday party and fundraiser commemorating "the Gipper's" 106th birthday that is sure to please lovers of Reagan both intellectually and gastronomically. The 501(c) nonprofit is hosting a unique event featuring Reagan-inspired dishes and music at the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, Virginia, on Friday, February 10, 2017, starting with a special reception in the historic Manor House at 6:30 pm.
New York Times best-selling author Craig Shirley will be the event's guest speaker. His newest book Reagan Rising hits the bookstores on March 21, 2017. "At a time when conservatives are seeking to redefine their identity in light of the Donald Trump phenomenon, Reagan Rising offers insight into the development of Reagan's optimistic and unifying philosophy, and offers lessons for both established Republican leaders as well as emerging hopefuls," writes Jon Meacham in the forward of Shirley's upcoming book. Meacham should know. He is the executive editor and executive vice president of Random House, a former editor-in-chief of Newsweek, and a Pulitzer Prize winner.
