Density Packing In Sterling Announced

I have always been against, and warned against, the threat of density packing Sterling. There are many developers who have always had designs on increasing the density of old Sterling.

I opposed "mixed use" zoning over my 16 year public service in established neighborhoods in Sterling every time.

The developers were angry with me as they pushed "mixed use".

I voted no to density packing near Sterling along Route 606 to our south and along Route 28 to our west. The developers were angry with me.

If it was near Sterling or in Sterling, I did not vote for it.

Yet now our new supervisor who replaced me proposes density packing Sterling. Shame.

COMMUNITY MEETING TO GET FEEDBACK ON PROPOSAL IN STERLING

This liberal supervisor is supporting high density apartments in Sterling Plaza and this will be duplicated by all the shopping centers in Sterling in the future and nothing can stop it once you approve
it for one shopping center.

He is holding a "community meeting this coming Tuesday, August 9th starting at 6 pm at Claude Moore Recreation Center in the multipurpose room (46105 Loudoun Park Ln, Sterling, VA 20164)." This entrance is off of Cascades Parkway in the
Claude Moore Park.

He has "invited Atlantic Realty Company, the Sterling Plaza owner and developer to provide a presentation on their redevelopment proposal."

This developer worked with Loudoun County and my office to sign a 20 year lease on a new library in his Sterling Plaza, located by the downtown area south of the Post Office with the Safeway supermarket and Joe's in it.

I worked hard for that improvement but was not supportive of new housing.

ARE YOU STILL OPPOSED TO DENSITY PACKING STERLING?

The current liberal and anti-gun rights supervisor says

"the developer of the Sterling Plaza shopping center (where the Harbor Freight, Dollar Tree and Joe's Pizzeria is located), Atlantic Realty is looking to renew the plaza and add a relatively small amount of town home condominiums along Enterprise Drive. At the meeting, you will have the opportunity to hear from Atlantic Realty about its redevelopment plans in detail for the Sterling Plaza shopping center and ask questions. All Sterling residents are welcome and encouraged to attend so please come and make your voice heard."

A senior community leader said "the residential is turned around (again) so that the front of the building is facing Enterprise Drive; therefore the backs is what would be seen at the end of Sterling Plaza. Sounds ridiculous and takes away even any pseudo-mixed use approach."
