Please pray for the quick recovery of the guard who saved the conservative group Family Research Council from disaster Wednesday. FRC head Tony Perkins recognized this hero today.

Leo Johnson was unarmed but he rushed the would be shooter.

Leo Johnson was the security guard who questioned and then subdued shooter Floyd Corkins as he entered the lobby and Johnson was shot before subduing and disarming Corkins who had two guns and was trying to get to the 2nd floor to alledgely shoot the FRC staff. DC Police Chief called Johnson a "genuine hero".

Johnson is expected to make a full recovery. The head of the FRC, Tony Perkins, said today the Southern Poverty Law Center has issued a "License" for shooting Christians by labeling Christians as "bigots" and pro-family groups as hate groups.

LCSO Investigates August 13th Assault on N. Fillmore Avenue in Sterling

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported assault and attempted abduction that occurred Monday August 13 and was reported Wednesday August 15, 2012 in the Sterling area.

The 39-year-old victim told authorities that she was exiting her vehicle in the 120 block of N. Fillmore Avenue around 12:40AM on August 13th when an unknown male approached her. After a brief conversation the male suspect grabbed the victim, forced her into the backseat of her car, and held her down. After the victim screamed the suspect fled in a vehicle described as a sky blue older model car.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 5'9" tall with a medium build and was wearing a black shirt and black pants at the time of the incident.

Community Briefing On Route 7 Improvements
Thursday, October 4th at 7pm.

75 citizens attended the last meeting back on June 28. The next briefing on Route 7 ROAD IMPROVMENTS will be Thursday, October 4 at 7 p.m. in the Dominion HS Auditorium (DHS is on Augusta Drive north of Route 7 in Sterling) 50 large and small signs are up and the giant cranes have arrived and blinking signs tell drivers about road improvements.

Permits for Phase I of the grading (except for a small area on Augusta) were just approved, so the construction crews will prepare to begin the grading process in the next few days.

A grading permit meeting was held earlier this week and the grading permit is issued for all work areas except the Augusta Drive intersection where the last easement is needed. This will allow erosion and sediment controls work to begin at the Potomac View and Sterling Blvd intersections for work outside the travel lanes.

LCSO Announces 31st Citizens' Police Academy


Loudoun County Sheriff Michael L. Chapman announced today the formation of the 31st Citizen's Police Academy, which will commence on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.

Members of the class will participate in training classes taught by Loudoun County Sheriff's Office personnel. The classes provide an overview of all the aspects of law enforcement within the agency. Members of the class may also have the option of participating in a ride-a-long with a deputy after completing the academy.

The free sessions will be held each Wednesday evening from September 12th through November 28th. Each session will be two-and-a-half hours in length and begin at 7PM. Class locations will be announced prior to the upcoming session.

The classes are open to Loudoun County residents over the age of 18. To enroll in the Citizen's Police Academy, please contact Becky Roll at the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office at (703)737-8520, during normal business hours of 9AM to 5PM.

Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Enrollment is limited to 30 participants.

CHICKEN FAST FOOD AT DRANESVILLE ROAD AND ROUTE 7?

Here are the details proposed for the vacant old Wachovia Bank building at the border with Sterling right on the edge of Loudoun county, just inside Fairfax County. This is on the right just before you enter Loudoun County on Route 7.

The FAIRFAX County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the application September 11 at 3:30 p.m. in the Board Auditorium, Lobby Level, Government Center Building 12000 Gov't Center Pkwy. in Fairfax. Traffic Advisory (Leesburg) Friday

America's 9/11 Foundation, Inc. holds an annual commemorative motorcycle ride in remembrance of all who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks, aftermath and recovery. On Friday, August 17, 2012, the motorcycle procession will travel through Leesburg at about 2 p.m.Road closures are anticipated to be in effect for 20 to 25 minutes.
