Briefing on Metro Boondoggle Runaway Spending

How high will our county taxes go with a $260 million debt and possible $40 million a year operating expense for Loudoun (including capitol improvements)just for Metro?

All for up to 1,000 daily trips (500 Loudoun citizens, 500 non-Loudouners) in the first few years.

Some say the cost is "only" $500 per house per year. Others say $1000. How high will the toll go on the Dulles Toll Road to pay for Metro and when ? $1 next year. $10 increase in five years?

County staff will attempt to answer questions and explain the gigantic debt so that you can take Metro to Tysons Corner. National, State governments won't give Metro any money for this, banks will not finance it and developers have said nothing about paying for it. That leaves you the taxpayer to pay the Loudoun share.

Want more details? 7 p.m. Thursday May 31 at the Eastern Loudoun Regional Library at Cascades.

For the record: I am against the Metro financial plan which requires private citizens to pay for it out of of property taxes. And I have asked that developers pay for this if they REALLY WANT IT.

Save The Date:

Route 7 Improvements
Thursday June 28 7 PM

This is the evening set aside for a public briefing by county staff on the construction taking place at Sterling Blvd. and Route 7. This project is completely funded-- using no tax dollars--- 100 per cent with money received SIX YEARS ago by the inovative sale of public surplus propery in Sterling and profers siting in the bank for 10 years.

The construction will take place mostly at night and over a 12 month period along route 7. The briefing will take place at the Eastern Loudoun Regional Library in Cascades next to the Sterling Senior Center in Cascades.

Since there is no tax increase involved and no gigantic union that will reap billions, I guess that's why it took six years to award a contract. I admittedly digress.
