HAPPY JULY FOURTH
PROCLAMATION and INDOOR ACTION KIT

Thank you to those of you who marched over to the Sterling community
Center last night. It was packed and very productive. A new committee
has been formed with representatives from many of Sterling's existing
social, charitible and business action groups.

You all are in the drivers' seat and this Sterling Blvd. Improvement
project will grow bigger and bigger in the years ahead. The room was
filled with excitement and promise.

WAY TO GO STERLING. THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING.

Now back to the Fourth of July. *Permission Granted to Send On to Family
and Friends.*

The Declaration of Independence is seen as that document that
established the new nation of the United States. The date of its formal
acceptance by the Continental Congress, July 4, 1776, is celebrated each
year in the U.S. with fireworks, parties, citizenship ceremonies, and
baseball games.

This is a tradition encouraged by formal acts of Congress, the founding
fathers, Presidential proclamations and various other federal, national
and legal laws, edicts, resolutions, etc.

Independence Day is celebrated on July 4 because that is the day when
the Continental Congress adopted the final draft of the Declaration of
Independence (Except for the U.S. Virgin Islands where celebrations are
held a week prior to the climax on 4th of July.)

30 DAYS OF NIGHTLY FIREWORKS THROUGHOUT USA.

From July 8, 1776, until the next month, the document was read publicly
and people celebrated whenever they heard it. The next year, in
Philadelphia, bells rang and ships fired guns, candles and firecrackers
were lighted. But the War of Independence dragged on until 1783, and in
that year, Independence Day was made an official holiday. 1941 Congress
declared 4th of July a federal holiday.

JOHN ADAMS, SAYS "FIREWORKS AND BONFIRES FROM THIS TIME FORWARD...."

John Adams, credited by Thomas Jefferson as the unofficial, tireless
whip of the independence-minded, wrote his wife Abigail on July 3, 1776:

The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epocha in the
history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by
succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be
commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to
God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with
shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one
end of this continent to the other, from this time forward for evermore.

HOLD ONTO YOUR CHAIR: DELGAUDIO HAS A RIGHT WING ICE CREAM?

Now you can buy ice cream produced by a pro-Armed Forces crowd that vows
to "defeat" leftist ice cream with "rightwing" icecream. I know the
producers of this and they have good stuff (completely independent of me
or any member of my family), funny themes and 10 per cent goes to
various charities that support the U.S. Armed Forces.

VISIT THE WEBSITE or go to 800 retail Seven- eleven outlets that are
stocking Eugene Delgaudio's favorite Star Spangled Ice Cream in flavors
like "Fighting Marine Tough Cookie".
