Board of Supervisors Votes To Reduce Spending
Last night the board of supervisors voted six yes, two no, one absent for the vote, to begin the budget worksessions at a five per cent decrease on the property tax impact to the average taxpayer.
This means a reduction in the proposed increase by $50 million
in the proposed 2013 budget. More reductions in spending and more
cuts are necessary to actually reduce the tax you pay. This $50
million reduction in spending just keeps the overall impact (tax
increase) from going up.
The board must either reduce more spending or add back in
spending to approve needed or desired projects.
