HISTORIC 2010 BLIZZARD

February 8, 2010

I hope you are snug and warm. Most of Sterling is at home right now. Most of you are digging big piles or sledding the hills!

Get the cameras out and take plenty of pictures.

I have looked at some areas in Sterling. I have been digging some neighbors out and clearing signs of snow for possible emergency vehicles. (Please hit the sign post with a shovel to shake the snow from the corner sign posts. Thank you.)

I do not recommend driving on any roads unless it is an emergency. Please write me and tell you the conditions in your neighborhood.

PLOWS, BULLDOZERS AND TRUCKS

There are an army of large truck plows, small truck plows, bobcats, light and heavy bulldozers at work since Friday and now at this hour.

All roads have been plowed with one lane. The primary roads have had large truck plows going through them regularly for past 12 hours and are passable.

Sterling Blvd is plowed and the intersections are being worked on by bulldozers.

Drivers are driving in one lane. Most primary roads are drivable. But Route 7 is still a mess.

All secondary roads need major attention but in this initial 24 hour period of snowfall probably will get one pass from a VDOT or private contractor. Most shopping centers are working at pushing snow into piles.
