IN TIME FOR PARADE 10 AM. SATURDAY

For Immediate release 10 p.m. Friday Dec. 11, 2009

Earlier Friday afternoon, Loudoun County Staff approved all permits and assigned sites to all applicants.

Applicants began placing their displays at the Loudoun County Courthouse at East Market and King Streets in downtown Leesburg beginning at 5 p.m. Friday.

"The nativity scene was set up at the corner by 6:00 p.m. Friday and next to it is a separate display of a Christmas Tree with ornaments on the courthouse grounds. Due to the newly announced rules, it took volunteers until 9:00 p.m. to construct the tree stand and finished assembling it by 9:30 p.m. on the courthouse grounds. This is just in time for the parade which is Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Leesburg ", says Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio,(R- Sterling District ), a leader in the 2 week long effort to restore religious displays at the courthouse.

Passersby honked their horns and shouted support at the intersection. Parade goers are expected to be especially supportive of the displays which are a 50 year tradition.
