Alleged MS-13 member charged with 2008 double shooting

STERLING, Va. - Authorities say a 2008 shooting of a man and a pregnant woman in Loudoun County was the work of MS-13 gang members looking for members of a rival gang to attack.

Today, Dec. 25, federal prosecutors have charged Jose Gordillo Portocarrero with driving two other alleged MS-13 members to the attack on the night of Sept. 13, 2008. The gunman hit the woman in the chest and the man in the stomach and chest. They recovered from their wounds, and the baby survived.

Portocarrero is accused of driving off with the gunman.

Portocarrero was arrested in November by Loudoun County sheriff's deputies on different charges. Authorities say he admitted to being an MS-13 gang member and told them he was the driver in the September 2008 shooting.
