DEPUTIES BAG 4 CROOKS LAST NIGHT

January 30, 2004

I get a lot of requests on this and I do encourage the deputies. Please
tell the Sheriff you are happy with the following report (printed as I
received it a minute ago.) Most of the car vandalism and theft occurs when
Sterling retires for the night and this is good news.

Four Arrested in Larceny from Vehicles

Three adults and a 17-year-old, who are all from Herndon, were arrested
Thursday night after Sheriff's Deputies received a call from a Pembrooke
resident regarding a vehicle tampering in progress.

Edwin Gallardo, 18, Jorge Murcia-Landaverde, 21, and Octavio Mario Morales,
20, were charged with three felony counts of possession of stolen goods,
possession of burglarious tools, grand larceny, and one misdemeanor count
of destruction of property. All three were being held on a $2000 bond at
the Loudoun Detention Center.

The 17-year-old was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Just before 11:30 PM last night deputies responded to the 140 block of
North Fillmore Avenue and quickly set up a perimeter surrounding the area
where the 20-year-old victim said he saw three or four suspects breaking
into his car. According to the victim the suspects left the area in a
white Volkswagen.

A few minutes later Deputy Sean Allen conducted a traffic stop on a car
matching the description of the suspect's vehicle, which was heading
towards East Holly Avenue.

Inside the suspects vehicle deputies discovered several car stereos,
various CD's, sunglasses and custom vehicle gauges. Some of the items
inside the suspect's car were identified as belonging to the victim.

Deputies estimated the total value of the items recovered at $1709.
