STERLINGFEST!

October 9, 2003

Many people just visit it and become convinced their vote for me is a sure thing. But I have to list it properly to swing undecided voters.

PRECINCT AWARENESS.

If you live in the old Rolling Ridge Precinct east of Sterling Blvd. or east of Lincoln Avenue towards the Loudoun Border with Fairfax you are now part of the Park View Precinct.

Look at the new map of Sterling District to make sure on the website www.eugene2003.com or http://www.loudoun.gov/images/maps/districts/sterling.JPG

Where do you vote?

Here is the latest information on where in Sterling you can vote on Election Day and exactly how you can vote absentee by writing and requesting a ballot ---if you or a member of your family will not be present on election day, Tuesday, November 4. (polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

So you can request a Ballot by Mail and here below is how to Vote PRIOR TO THE ELECTION "in person"

Hershey the Poodle is Missing

A note in the mail: "I noticed you list lost animals - would you be willing to add my dog? "Hershey" is a grey poodle, who ran away last Thursday. He is very timid. He was last seen on Crestview/Lincoln, in the Forest Ridge area. He was wearing a brown leather collar with his name and our family address and phone number on it. If anyone has seen him they can call Joe or Lisa at 703-430-5776."

Push Poll or Attack Mailings

From the Dick Black for Delegate newsletter: "Morrissey Apologizes In Push-Poll Flap" was the headline in the Leesburg Today October 3, 2003 edition. The article chronicles a series of phone calls, commonly known as a "push poll." The calls are disguised as a survey but serve to smear an opponent. The racially inflammatory remarks made during these phone calls prompted members of her own party to condemn these tactics.

In the Delgaudio for Supervisor race, look for outside mailings and phone calls to smear Supervisor Delgaudio and alert us if you get one of the calls. Keep the mailing and send it to P.O. Box 1222 Sterling, Va. 20167. I appreciate it.

TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS

I will begin meeting some of you on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. at Jimmy Gs, starting Tuesday, Oct. 14, and Thursday Oct. 16 to answer questions and get some campaign work done with you. I hope this helps your schedule better and increases our ability to reach more people. Thank you for volunteering. Join me at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays or (as usual) Saturdays at 10 a.m.

(repeat announcement from earlier message starts here)

PARADE THIS SATURDAY

The annual Knights of Columbus parade will kick off from Park View High School will start at 9 a.m. and go down Sterling Blvd. Look for crowds to start lining the streets for choice spots at 8:30 a.m. The crowd at the end might be hundreds as they cheer the marchers.

STERLINGFEST THIS SATURDAY

Members of Congress, the U.S. Senate and even national celebrities have come to Sterlingfest in the past few years. Don't underestimate the fun and excitement at Sterlingfest this Saturday, Oct. 11 where a million visitors can not be wrong. (slight exageration).

Sterlingfest is a collection of booths and sponsors promoting downtown Sterling and its various citizen and charitable groups. There is a small train in back of the community center that is my favorite. Plenty of food and even some bands. There will be no speeches by elected officials, but plenty of time to talk to or greet firemen, deputies, rescue and other public servants.

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Place: Commerce Street, and Enterprise Streets, behind the Sterling Post Office

Directions: Drive Down Sterling Blvd. and park in the Sterling Park Shopping Center lot

Park: along Commerce street or in the neighbor shopping lots

Head for the booths (we will be booth 18 by the Bank)

JIMMY G'S MEETING

Due to Sterlingfest, our weekly get together is moved to Sterlingfest, Booth 18. We will need your help there due to the many people coming that will want Delgaudio literature and demand their own campaign whistle most enthusiastically.

REPEAT: the regular weekly meeting at Jimmy Gs Restaurant is moved to Sterlinfest, the largest gathering of Sterling Americans since my campaign kickoff earlier.

NEXT MEETING

We will return to Jimmy G's on Saturday, October 18 at 10 a.m. and appreciate your help on that date if you can come by.

OTHER MEETINGS

Any one who wants to work on a daily basis or from home is welcome to sign up for that also. Just call me and we can meet at (guess where?) Jimmy Gs.

Election Day volunteers are appreciated and calls should be made to Michael 703-707-0986. He is very nice to do that for all the campaigns.
