OVERNIGHT DETOURS ON 28

NOTICE: MAJOR OVERNIGHT DETOURS SOUTHBOUND and NORTHBOUND ROUTE 28 AT STERLING BOULEVARD

WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 13-15, 2006

As the Sterling Boulevard Interchange construction nears completion, a major task remains. During the weekend of October 13-15th, both southbound and northbound Route 28 will be detoured completely so that a 96=94 diameter storm pipe can be installed across all lanes of Route 28. The work hours for these detours are:

Begins Friday, October 13th at 8:00 pm - Ends Saturday, October 14th at 10:00 am

Begins Saturday October 14th at 6:00 pm =96 Ends Sunday, October 15that 10:00 am

Southbound Route 28: 1. All southbound Route 28 traffic will be narrowed to a single lane after the Route 625 Interchange; 2. All southbound traffic will be detoured to the new Sterling Boulevard Interchange ramp leading to westbound Sterling Boulevard; 3. All traffic will turn left onto Pacific Boulevard; 4. All traffic will turn left onto Route 606 =96 Old Ox Road; 5. Southbound traffic can then exit from Route 606 to Route 28 South; 6. Sterling Boulevard traffic can then exit from Route 606 to Route 28 North to Sterling Boulevard, or 7. Sterling Boulevard traffic can continue on Route 606 and turn left on Shaw Road to Sterling Boulevard.

Northbound Route 28: 1. All northbound traffic will be narrowed to a single lane at the Route 606 Interchange; 2. All northbound traffic will follow a detour through the Sterling Interchange. Note that traffic will remain on Route 28 during this detour=2E 3. Northbound traffic heading to eastbound Sterling Boulevard will still be able to turn right at Sterling Boulevard.

<>Notes: * The Loudoun County Sheriff=92s Office will be assisting in these detours. * The backup dates for this work will be the following weekend, October 20-23.
