Board Meets Monday July 21

I will be presenting a Resolution of Commendation to Sterlings' Ed Rezac, winner of the "Silver Snoopy Award" received for his work in support of the NASA space program. Mr. Rezac prepares astronauts for space walks and he helped prepare a contingency response for problems while servicing the Space Telescope.

Board Majority Spending $9.5 M on Buses

The Board will have a final vote on the $9,500,000 to purchase county owned buses for transportation. I voted no because the staff says the county will "save" $15,000.00 per bus, but I say the county loses $9,500,000.

The county should not get into purchasing and maintaining buses and it should continue to contract out with the system that is in place now where commuters pay for the system and the county contracts out. If this bus purchase was a way to forclose Loudoun being part of the metro fixed rail system, it would end up saving Loudoun County a lot of money. But that is not what is being proposed.

Potholes Filled at Shopping Center.

About a dozen potholes have been filled by the Old Safeway (now Big Lots) by Gelman Properties. There will be another special road improvement announced at that location soon.

Bonus For Reading This Far

This is the coolest thing! Just swirl the mouse around and watch liquid man. It could also be how some Supervisors bend with the wind to spend tax dollars.
