SOME DEMAND TAX INCREASE

March 20, 2006

I am writing to let you know that there are now 25 new members of the
Sterling District Republican Committee. They were elected this past
Saturday and a hearty congratulations goes to them.

These are all volunteers and they are part of a fully staffed Sterling
contingent making it the first time in Sterling history that every
committee seat is filled. Thank you to those of you who assisted in the
election this past Saturday and may God Bless the new Republican leaders
of Sterling as they work to re-elect George Allen for Senator and Frank
Wolf as Congressman this year.

These are all special people who have come foreward and have been
elected. Thank you to the 25 brave souls who have entered the political
arena.

>>>BOS REDUCES TAX RATE --FOR NOW
>>> WILL THE BOS KEEP REDUCING THE TAX RATE TO 81 CENTS?

In a pre-St. Patricks Day miracle, the board of supervisors voted, on a
motion that I made, to work with a reduced budget from the Kirby Bowers
proposed rate of 97 cents to just below 90 cents.

This is only a "straw vote" and can be reversed.

I know many of you missed LAST Wednesday's work session. Only one paper
has reported on it so far-- on line--, as the night the board met was
"past the deadline" of most papers.

Other papers have begun to report it.

Story on line (Delgaudio Makes The Motion To Reduce Spending)
http://www.leesburg2day.com/current.cfm?catid=77&newsid=11783

The board of supervisors dropped spending by $66.6 million in a 7 to 2
straw poll vote and reduced the tax rate to approximately 90 cents
including the new revenue projections.

This included repeated (ten) successive roll call votes to not add any
enhancements to any department.

Why?

How could this suddenly happen?

Some of you wrote the board (write to encourage the board to go further
with reductions: [email protected]).

5,000 Loudoun citizens also appealed their assessments. Many of you
did that too. Everytime you write it does help, it seems.

>>> DO YOU WANT TO SEE PEOPLE DEMANDING YOUR TAXES GO UP UP UP?

Now the Board is meeting at the School Board meeting room in Ashburn
TONIGHT, Monday night. I am giving you directions if you want to come
and watch.

The school administrator Ed Hatrick has sent out letters, news releases
and notices to the public alerting school administrators, staff,
teachers, parents, children and school board members of the reductions.

The pressure is on and a lot of pro-government growth and pro-school
budget partisans will show up to raise the tax rate back to 97 cents.

There will be no opportunity to speak but its a big room and we can all
get cozy together with 500 people present.

>>DIRECTIONS TO THE BOARD OF SUPS WORKSESSION ON MONDAY
