CUB SCOUT BIKE RODEO

I attended the cubscout rodeo organized by Sterling cub scout packs today and so did 500 youngsters and their parents. It was hot. And some lucky children won 167 prizes. A big thank you to the fire and rescue units on hand and to all the volunteers. Thank you to the newspapers that published an annnouncement and the wonderful sponsors who donated very very generously. MOBILE HEALTH VAN Loudoun Healthcare Mobile Van has agreed to come to the Sterlingfest in October and will partner at area food stores or local events on request. The van provides reduced rate tests for blood pressure and other tests as a public service.

ODONNA MATHEWS AGREES TO HELP STERLING

I met with Odonna Mathews, Giant Food Stores public spokesperson and the star of Giant's Eat Healthy program, Odonna Mathews is asking for local Sterling Charities to provide information to her so that she can schedule to promote your event, cause or fundraser at the Sterling Giant. This is an opportunity for some worthy charities and I gave her a short list of the charities I routinely promote here. I invite you to add the name of your favorite charity to the list. IT'S HOT, HOT SO MAKE PHONE CALLS FOR KEN

The special election for Ken Cuccinelli for Senate over in Fairfax county takes place Tuesday, August 6. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. I will be volunteering on Saturday and Sunday for a few hours at a local phone bank for Ken Cuccinelli for State Senate. If you wish to help Ken, the phone banks are running on the following days: Today, Saturday to 9 p.m.; Sunday. 1 to 9 p.m.; Mon. 6:45 to 9 p.m. All at Tate & Bywater, 2740 Chain Bridge Road, North of Fairfax City and Route 66. They would like to know to know (703-766-0635) you're coming, but don't wait to hear back! Just show up! To those of you who already worked hard, or donated or are going to the phone banks with me, the Victory party will be at Brion's in University Mall at the intersection of Route 123 and Braddock Road.

MEETINGS MEETINGS MEETINGS

Yes, the Board of Supervisors is on "vacation" this month, but I am meeting with business, charitable and private individuals regularly. And there are civic and governmental meetings continuing. I will be attending the District 28 Tax District Advisory Board and the Loudoun County Transportation Association (LCTA) meetings. Call me if you wish to see me, of course (703-421-4599).
