Today in Sterling

May 18, 2002

The board is meeting extra nights to pass tons and tons of new regulations and ordinances and to figure out, it seems, how to make Old Ashburn part of the Rural Conservation District. On Monday, I hope to vote against making Old Ashburn, here in the urbanized East part of the "rural" west.

There is a lot going on and I will tell you more later. The Board meets Monday for a full day (May 20) and again on Tuesday and Wednesday night for worksessions with the Planning Commission on ordinances for the general plan.

Previous Boards took 2 to 3 years to work on ordinances for their respective general plans (1972 and 1993, respectively). This board is taking six months. Draw your own conclusion about the speed. If you just blinked your eyes, we just finished 200 pages of ordinances.

Free Event number 1

Today, (IN PROGRESS) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. I will be meeting with Conservative Senator Alex Mooney and Ms. Norma McCorvey, the former "Jane Roe" the plaintiff in Roe versus Wade decided by the Supreme Court. If you want to join me, please be my guest. Tell the reception host or hostess (Pat and Laurie Mooney) that you are a "guest of Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio". I will take care of any cost involved and there is no charge to you, hence a free event.

To meet me, conservative Senator Alex Mooney, or celebrity pro-life convert Ms. Norma McCorvey, please go to 117 Sue Ann Court from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Saturday, May 18 in Sterling. Thanks.

Free Event number 2

On Monday, at 11 a.m., May 27, Memorial Day, there will be a ceremony at the veterans memorial to honor veterans at Holly Avenue and Sterling Boulevard. There will be a 2l gun salute. And brief speeches by veterans. I have asked for one lane on each road to be blocked off to allow for the crowds. I will be there at 10:30 a.m. and will stay afterwards if you wish to see me.

FIRST Party Big Big Success

Senator Bill Mims, Delegates Dick Black , and Tom Rust and County Treasurer Roger Zurn came on Monday to Glory Days' Grill and 100 other very important people came. There were several Star Wars' figures present and plenty of good food. A record amount of people came out and a record amount of money was raised for a good cause: my re-election. To those who came: thank you thank you thank you. It was wonderful. To those who missed it: there will be another event.
