Today in Sterling
The board is meeting extra nights to pass tons and tons of new regulations and ordinances and to figure out, it seems, how to make Old Ashburn part of the Rural Conservation District. On Monday, I hope to vote against making Old Ashburn, here in the urbanized East part of the "rural" west.
There is a lot going on and I will tell you more later. The Board meets Monday for a full day (May 20) and again on Tuesday and Wednesday night for worksessions with the Planning Commission on ordinances for the general plan.
Previous Boards took 2 to 3 years to work on ordinances for their respective general plans (1972 and 1993, respectively). This board is taking six months. Draw your own conclusion about the speed. If you just blinked your eyes, we just finished 200 pages of ordinances.
