HOWIE LIND DETAILS HIS REASONS FOR REPUBLICAN PARTY TO REMOVE ANTI-TRUMP DELEGATE

July 6, 2016

NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 6 2016 3PM

MESSAGE TO REPUBLICAN LEADERS ASKING FOR NEVER TRUMP DELEGATE TO BE REMOVED
RELEASED BY HOWIE LIND

Today, July 6, 3:00 p.m., Howie Lind, alternate National Delegate, authorized release of a letter to Republican leaders in the 10th district outlining his legal and other reasoning in requesting the Republican Party of the tenth
district and Virginia immediately remove Carroll Beau Correll from the roster of delegates to the Cleveland Convention.

Lind is also a respondent or complaintant in the Richmond lawsuit attacking the class action law suit filed by Correll "on behalf of the Virginia Democratic Party and Republican Party delegates.

Lind is attempting to confront the Republican Party to take a stand against Correll administratively and legally as Attorney General Mark Herring has defended the Democratic Party delegation.

10th District Republicans meet to expel a member of the Republican Party on Monday July 11 and Lind is asking that removing Carroll Correll should be part of the Monday July 11 meeting agenda as well.

LETTER FROM HOWIE LIND DETAILING
HIS REASONS FOR REPUBLICAN
PARTY TO REMOVE ANTI-TRUMP DELEGATE
FROM THE VIRGINIA DELEGATION

HOWIE LIND, Alternate National Delegate, tenth district said:

"I wanted to keep you updated on this issue. (Recently: Friday, July 1, 2016) I filed an appeal with the 10th District GOP committee asking them to withdraw the certification of Caroll "Beau" Correll as a Delegate to the Republican National Convention. The charge is that Beau Correll supports a 3rd Party candidate in the Presidential election based on a television interview with an Australian ABC affiliate early in June 2016. In the interview, the reporter refers to Beau Correll's support of a third party candidate - a comment likely derived from off-air discussions with Mr. Correll.

Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) rules provide that support of a candidate in opposition to a Republican nominee after signing a Statement of Intent bars one from participation for four years from the offense.

TEXT OF APPEAL TO REMOVE ANTI-TRUMP DELEGATE

Dear 10th District Committee Members,

Please find the attached document entitled, Appeal to the Virginia 10th Congressional District Republican Committee on the matter of Carroll "Beau" Correll and the Violation of the 2016 Statement of Intent.

Included in this document are supporting material for this Appeal and the listing of more than 25 valid signatures from members of the Republican Party of Virginia in the 10th Congressional District. The requirement for an appeal is 25 signatures. These are your constituents, and they designated me to speak on their behalf.

The original documents of this Appeal will be delivered to Chairman Jo Thoburn via overnight mail.

Let me start by saying that this is not personal against Beau Correll. Beau and I have been friends and political colleagues for many years. It greatly saddens me that he has gone done this road to abandon the Republican Party in this critical year. My contention, of which I hope to prove to you, is that Beau Correll is in violation of the 2016 Statement of Intent by openly advocating for a 3rd party candidate to run for President this year.

This statement of intent from the RPV Party Plan (as defined in the attached appeal), says that a Republican voter who publicly supports someone other than the nominee, such as a 3rd party candidate, shall not be qualified to participate in party actions for a period of four years. This is not about Donald Trump being, or not being, the nominee. It is about Beau Correll supporting a 3rd party candidate for President, plain and simple.

To reiterate, this (is) not about Beau's non-support of Donald Trump. It is solely about his support for a 3rd party candidate in the Presidential race. This situation is exactly akin to an elected Delegate to the Republican National Convention openly supporting Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate for President.

Since Beau Correll was elected at the 10th District Convention, you have the sole power and authority to remove Beau as a Delegate to the National Convention. This is not a matter for the RNC or RPV Credentials Committees or anyone else at the national or state levels. This situation is the same as if he had resigned or had become incapacitated in any way that would prevent his attendance to the National Convention. The 10th District Committee would simply notify the RNC that Beau Correll is no longer a Delegate to the convention.

The evidence for his violation is found in the attached video of his TV interview with Australian ABC News affiliate, 730 TV, on June 7, 2016.

Please view this on-line so you can see and hear it for yourself. I will note that you have no expectation of privacy when you are sitting for such an interview with a member of the press. His segment begins at the 5 minute mark in the video.

The key sections that are highlighted in the attachment are as follows:

From the reporter, Zoe Daniel: "This country lawyer supports a long-shot scheme, dreamed up by senior renegade Republicans, to insert a third-party candidate into the presidential race to attract votes away from Trump."

From Beau Correll: "The party's already split to pieces. And I think that's something many people are entertaining."

Beau will claim that he did not say it - the reporter did. I ask you, 10th Committee Members, how did the reporter come up with this statement? Out of thin air? Of course not. Beau told her that he supports a 3rd party candidate for President.

Following up in his final statement above, " ...I think that's what many people are entertaining." The highlighted word, that's, refers to supporting a 3rd party candidate.

A reasonable person would come to these conclusions based on this overwhelming evidence.

I urge you to read carefully through all of these documents. I ask you to affirm the Appeal and vote to withdraw the certification of Beau Correll as a Delegate to the Republican National Convention for violation of the 2016 Statement of Intent as requested in the Appeal by more than 25 Members of the Republican Party of Virginia, " said Howie Lind.

You can view the video of the ABC affiliate's interview with Beau Correll here. Go to the 5-minute mark.

Here is the text of the appeal submitted to the Members of the 10th District Committee:

Appeal to the Virginia 10th Congressional District Republican Committee on the matter of Carroll "Beau" Correll and the Violation of the 2016 Statement of Intent.

We, the undersigned Members of the Republican Party of Virginia who reside in the 10th Congressional District of Virginia, do make this appeal based on adverse actions by a National Delegate Elect on June 7, 2016. We designate Howard (Howie) R. Lind to speak on our behalf in this matter. He can be reached by email at [email protected].

Whereas, Carroll "Beau" Correll signed a statement of intent to support the ensuing nominees to participate in and run for National Delegate and was elected at the 10th District Convention to the office of National Delegate to the Republican National Convention and,

Whereas, subsequently it was reported on June 7th 2016 7.30 TV an Australian ABC affiliate that he said that he supports a third party run in the 2016 Presidential election and posted the screenshot of the video on his facebook page,

Whereas, that statement to the reporter that she repeated constitutes a public endorsement of a 3rd Party candidate running in opposition of the Republican Nominee whereas according to Article 1 of the Plan of Organization of the Republican Party of Virginia of SECTION A. 2. "A voter who, subsequent to making a statement of intent, publicly supports a candidate in opposition to a Republican nominee shall not be qualified for participation in party actions as defined in Article I for a period of four (4) years" that such a violation of that statement of intent bars participation in nomination contests until June 6, 2020,

Whereas, a statement of intent to support a 3rd Party candidate at any time is sufficient to violate the Statement of Intent and therefore, Mr. Correll is no longer qualified to be a National Delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention and whereas as such the position of National Delegate is vacant as if he had resigned,

Whereas, the 10th District Committee retains the sole authority to certify successors in such circumstances,

Therefore, be it resolved that we ask the 10th District Committee immediately notify Mr. Correll that he is no longer a National Delegate and that the 10th District Chairman immediately notify the Credentials Committee of the RNC Convention and the Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia that Mr. Correll's certification as a Delegate to the 2016 Convention is void and withdrawn for cause and is barred from participation in Republican Party actions until four years after the violation of the statement of intent being June 7, 2020.

The rules of the Republican Party of Virginia are available here.

Republican leaders in Washington may be preaching unity. But out here in Virginia, up to 70 per cent of delegates were actively recruited by Ted Cruz.

And now that he's out of the race, they're finding switching over to supporting Donald Trump a big stretch.

BEAU CORRELL, REPUBLICAN DELEGATE: I was very receptive to Donald Trump. I was receptive to him because you know, I believe in protecting our borders. I think that's a national security issue.

But then I started to learn quickly that Donald Trump has no clue what he's talking about. You know, ask him something on day one, it's answer 'X'. On day two, it's answer 'Y'. That led me to oppose Donald Trump.

ZOE DANIEL: This country lawyer supports a long-shot scheme, dreamed up by senior renegade Republicans, to insert a third-party candidate into the presidential race to attract votes away from Trump.

BEAU CORRELL: The party's already split to pieces. And I think that's something many people are entertaining.

Like I said, it's not over till it's over.
