STERLING SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED FRIDAY

The School Board has announced "After consulting with the National Weather Service (NWS) and other agencies, Loudoun County Public Schools has decided to close Friday, February 20 because of forcasted extreme wind-chill temperatures.

The Sterling based NWS says Friday will be Sunny, with a high near 15. Wind chill values as low as -18. Northwest wind 6 to 14 mph

"The frequency of crooks hitting this one bank is getting disconcerting," says Eugene Delgaudio, Sterling Supervisor.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank in the Community Plaza in Sterling, Virginia.

Shortly before 4PM today, two unknown males entered the bank and both men brandished a firearm. One of the armed suspects threatened a customer with the weapon and demanded cash. Both suspects were wearing all black and masks. The suspects were further described as being tall with a larger build.

The suspects fled the scene in a light in color, possibly silver or white, late model Nissan Altima.

Anyone with any information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective C. Cunningham of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475. If the caller wishes to remain anonymous they are asked to call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the information provided to caller leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.

Safety, Library, CC Construction Briefing

I need you to come out to a meeting Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Claude Moore Rec Center.

I need you at my community meeting Tuesday Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. to brief residents on the progress on approved voter bonds to renovate the Sterling Fire and Rescue Safety Center, the Sterling Community Center and the new Sterling Library-all in the "downtown area" of Sterling at Commerce and Enterprise.

Most citizens will hear this report and be supportive.

Some will come to demand a tax increase or oppose spending on this construction.

Now that the bond has passed, I hope you agree that Sterling needs to get this scheduled as soon as possible. And those of us who want Sterling to get these improvements sooner not later need to be there to encourage the county staff. Thank you.
